A true watercolourist, Jean Salou uses this difficult discipline to develop his art. He experiments with different effects and thus creates a very contemporary pictorial language, without forgetting or distancing himself from a reality that is, with his talent, even more enchanting.
Passionate about music and art, constantly learning, his expansive brushwork often demands large formats.
He prefers spontaneity to a traditional academic style or to photographic realism. He does not use preparatory sketches, nor does he re-work his pictures in the studio.

According to Salou, there are many similarities between the creativity of music and painting.
With his free use of colour, line and form, he expresses a truth that cannot be communicated in words. Salou's goal is to convey an emotion, an atmosphere, the desire for a connection.
